Principal Animal Technician, Animal Resources Supervisor of Animal Care Program
Under direction of the Animal Resources Supervisor of Animal Care Program, incumbent is assigned responsibility for supervising limited technical and environmental control activities in physically separate or organizationally distinct animal care areas within vivaria. Incumbent must ensure that animal housing and care are compatible with all federal, state and local requirements as well as accreditation standards of AAALAC International. (Husbandry Efficacy); and achieve maximal efficiency in resources used for animal housing and care (Husbandry Efficiency). Departmental Mission is to support researchers in use of their animals. This requires continued and effective communications with the Animal Resources Supervisor, investigators and laboratory staff, as well as health and office units within department. Maintain animal records related to health and administration. Management of multi-species facility includes operation and proper utilization of advanced rodent housing units to accommodate colonies of transgenic rodents within vivarium. Equipment includes automatic ventilated cages, autoclaves, biosafety cabinets and cage washers. Incumbent typically makes work assignments to, and adjust workload of two or more full time animal care personnel; train these staff members; evaluate employee performance; makes or effectively recommends employment and termination decisions; estimates and initiates orders for animals, supplies and equipment; ensures compliance with health and safety regulations; and perform other related duties as required.

Animal Shelter Technician, Erda, Utah
Employer is accepting application for a Shelter Technician vacancy at our animal shelter in Erda, Utah. This is a part-time position working 18-20 hours per week. Hours will be established to meet the needs of the shelter and generally will include one shift on either Saturday or Sunday of each week. Shelter Technicians clean the animal control shelter, handle and care for animals, euthenize animals based on policy guidelines, and perform other manual tasks relating to shelter maintenance. Duties also include basic clerical tasks such as: answering phone, processing form, assisting the public with questions and departmental processes, filing, and performing basic data input. We are seeking applicants who have a high school diploma (or GED) and some knowledge of how to handle dogs and cats. We will also consider applicants who have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. You must be able to work independently with little supervision. This is a physically demanding job with routine lifting of 10-25 lbs and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Work environment is loud due to multiple barking dogs in a confined area.
