A World-Class Veterinary Hospital is in need of a Veterinary Technician Manager for its center in North Chicago. This position performs a variety of duties concerned with the management of the Vet. Tech. staff including ICU, surgery, laboratory, treatment, dentistry, radiology, internal medicines and kennels. This position reports to the Practice Director and will also receive direction from the Director of HR and the Chief of Staff.
Some Administrative Duties to be performed: # Interview and hire Vet Techs and Tech Assistants # Oversee the development and maintenance of department manuals # Oversee the training of new hires # Prepare shift schedules # Assist with budget planning and development # Departmental procedure and job development # Perform technician and supervisory duties as required # Oversee and monitor Incident Reports # Monitor hospitalized stray and relinquished companion animals Some Technical Duties to be performed # Perform appropriate lab request forms and submit with appropriate samples # Perform appropriate clip and surgical prep # Hook monitoring equipment up to patients # Perform all required medical documentation # Perform emergency procedures i.e. shock dose fluids, intubations, external cardiac compressions etc. # Administer micro-chips, nail trims, and anal gland expressions # Perform routine suture and drain removals # Recover patients from anesthesia # Obtain lab samples, etc. Qualifications: # Current CVT certificate or LVT licence # Minimum 7 years technician experience with at least 3 years experience in an emergency or referral practice with increasing responsibilities # Ability to appropriately handle, lift and restrain animals # Excellent organizational, management, and communication skills # Maintain state required continuing education requirements So if you are a seasoned Veterinary technician with management experience and would like to hear more about this exciting opportunity, please apply today.
