QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in epidemiology, or closely related discipline, and DVM, or equivalent, required. Demonstrated experience in international programs in livestock health highly desirable, particularly related to molecular epidemiology, surveillance and information technology, or modeling of animal infectious diseases. Demonstrated record of effective teaching and of independent productivity and creativity in research related to animal disease epidemiology. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere. Multilingual capabilities are desirable.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching: Responsibilities include: 1) teach graduate professional and graduate academic course(s) in epidemiology, epidemiologic study design, infectious disease epidemiology related to molecular epidemiology, surveillance and information technology, and/or modeling of animal diseases and their risks, 2) participate in instruction in other courses in the DVM or graduate curricula on topics related to infectious disease epidemiology, as appropriate, and 3) mentor and direct graduate students Research: The development of a creative, independent, and productive basic and/or applied research program in infectious disease epidemiology of livestock is a fundamental and indispensable requirement of the position, including publication of results in scientific journals. Service: University and public service through committee work, participation in professional organizations, continuing education and other appropriate means is required.
