This job closes on 24 July 2008 or when filled. Six months work experience; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Ability to move up to 50 pounds may be required in some areas. Certified positions are also required to have certification as an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) with the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) or Veterinary Technician certification. Previous experience in a veterinary or animal laboratory research setting preferred. Sanitizes caging systems; autoclaves; animal rooms and support areas using automated and manual equipment. Feeds and waters animals. Performs routine animal care maintenance including attaching ID bands and general grooming. Handles and restrains animals according to instructions and protocol. Maintains routine record keeping of such items as environmental conditions and animal inventory. Observes and communicates animal health conditions to lab personnel and notifies supervisor of abnormal conditions. Distributes supplies to various research areas. May be responsible for euthanasia; limited anesthesia; physical exams and administering medication according to veterinary direction. Mon - Fri 8am to 5pm. Apply
